Two fire engines and police officers have been called to an ongoing incident in Cardiff Bay. Several firefighters were seen outside a branch of Bill's which has been cordoned off.
A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the incident related to masonry falling off a roof. Two engines and an aerial appliance were called as an eyewitness first saw the cordon at 12.35pm on Saturday, March 25.
Images show a cordon covering the entrance to the restaurant and Stuart Place, the alleyway leading from Stuart Street to the waterfront, where the arm of a fire vehicle was extended up to the roof of Bill's.
Police and a Wales & West Utilities van could also be seen nearby. A police spokesperson said: "South Wales Police were called to reports of a fire at Bills Restaurant, Stuart Street, Cardiff Bay at 11.33am this morning. Upon arrival, it transpired that there was damage to the roof caused by the weather. No one was injured."
A Wales & West spokesperson confirmed the van had been called as a precaution but the incident did not turn out to be gas-related.
