A woman was rescued from a top floor window after a house fire in Swansea The incident happened just before 6am on Saturday, June 18 on Severn Road in Clase.
A spokesman for South Wales Police confirmed firefighters rescued a woman from the first floor of the home. He confirmed the fire is not being treated as suspicious and that nobody was seriously hurt.
Concerned neighbour Amy Gough woke up to see smoke coming from the home. She said: "We got up at 5.50am and had a look outside and could see smoke coming out of the window. There was an ambulance and paramedics who checked out the lady, but we were told she wasn't hurt."
Amy said the road was blocked off for around an hour-and-a-half while the emergency services dealt with the incident. She said: "There were also two fire engines, which showed up at around 6.10am, and a community car. The police turned up last to make sure everything was okay. It is quite a skinny road so with all the emergency services there, it was blocked off but there was no tape closing the road. The emergency services started leaving around 7.30am."
Pictures show the ambulance and two fire engines parked outside the property. A ladder can be seen leaning against the wall while soot appears on the bricks around the top floor window.
A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the fire is being investigated. He said: "We were called to the incident at 5.59am. We had two fire engines attend a fire at a property with crews from Morriston and Swansea central. We are carrying out an investigation into the cause of the fire as it is currently unknown."
