Emergency Managers In Taylor County Urging Residents To Evacuate

Residents evacuated due to storm warning in Crimea

Emergency managers in Taylor County, Florida, are taking serious measures to ensure the safety and well-being of residents who have chosen not to evacuate ahead of the impending storm. The officials overseeing low-lying towns such as Steinhatchee and Perry have issued a stark directive via a Facebook post.

The post, made on Thursday afternoon, urges those who have opted to stay behind to use a permanent marker to write their name and date of birth on their leg. This unconventional request serves as a clear message: the situation is dire, and identification may be crucial for rescue efforts.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office - Division of Emergency Management emphasized the importance of this action, stating, 'If you or someone you know chose not to evacuate, PLEASE write your Name, birthday, and important information on your arm or leg in A PERMANENT MARKER so that you can be identified and family notified.'

In addition to urging individuals to mark themselves, officials have called upon friends and relatives of those who remain in the area to share this information. By doing so, search and rescue teams will have a better chance of locating and assisting those in need once the storm has passed.

This proactive approach underscores the gravity of the situation and the dedication of emergency responders to ensuring the safety of all residents, even in the face of potentially life-threatening conditions. The call for visible identification serves as a poignant reminder of the risks involved in defying evacuation orders and the importance of preparedness in the event of a natural disaster.
