Emergency at Edinburgh train station after person found injured on tracks

Emergency services have rushed to a capital railway station following reports of a person being hit by a train.

Crews from the Scottish Ambulance Service and the British Transport Police (BTP) shut down Edinburgh Gateway on Monday afternoon after a casualty was discovered on the tracks.

The station, located in the West of the city, has since reopened with services slowly returning to normal however paramedics remain on site to provide emergency treatment after the party involved was pulled onto the platform.

Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and the incident is not being treated as suspicious, according to the BTP.

Trains running through the station will be cancelled, delayed or revised until around 2.30pm, a ScotRail spokesman said.

A BTP spokesperson added: "British Transport Police were called to Edinburgh Gateway station at 12.31pm today (21 February) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics are also in attendance, and a person is being treated at the scene for injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
