Embattled Topps Tiles chairman to join JD Sports' board

JD Sports JD Topps Tiles Darren Shapland The Original Factory Shop THG

The chairman of Topps Tiles, who has been facing a shareholder bid to oust him, is to join the board of JD Sports.

Darren Shapland will become a non-executive director at the Greater Manchester-headquartered retail giant from June 1.

Mr Shapland has previously been the CEO of Carpetright and CFO of Sainsbury's, Superdrug and a number of divisions of The Burton Group Plc.
