Elton John laughs off awkward wardrobe malfunction during Glastonbury set

Sir Elton John clung onto his eye-catching trousers for dear life as he took to the Pyramid Stage for his first-ever and possible last Glastonbury performance.

The musician, 76, was the closing act on Sunday night as thousands of fans flocked to the iconic stage to see the star perform some of his biggest hits.

During his performance, Sir Elton left fans devastated as he announced it may have been his last ever gig in Britain as he prepares to wind down his career.

Leaving fans speechless, the dad-of-two throughout out a string of famous faces to help him perform, including the likes of The Killers' Brandon Flowers and Rina Sawayama.

However, things appeared as though they weren't going to plan as Sir Elton addressed the crowd during a rather awkward moment.

He stepped out wearing a striking gold tracksuit and later told the crowd: "Ok, my trousers are falling down, but never mind."

Later on, Sir Elton paid tribute to his late friend George Micheal who would have been celebrating his birthday on Sunday.

George died aged 53 on Christmas Day in 2016, leaving the world of music as well as his millions of fans in a period of mourning.

Honouring the former Wham! singer, Elton said: "This is a very special day today, I wondered how I was going to approach it.

"One of Britain’s most fantastic singers and songwriters was George Michael.

"He was my friend, he was an inspiration, and today would have been his 60th birthday, so I want to dedicate this song to his memory.

"All the music he left us with is so gorgeous, this is for you, George," before performing Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me, which the pair collaborated on back in 1991.

Kicking off his set after a performance of Pinball Wizard, the legendary star said: "I never thought I would ever play Glastonbury and here I am.

"It's a very special and emotional night for me because it might be my last show ever in England, so I had better play well and I had better entertain you, you've been standing there so long and I really appreciate all the outfits and everything."

Fans at home appeared to be loving Sir Elton's set as they flocked to social media to share their thoughts with one another.

"Killer song after killer song. Most of us artists can only dream of having a catalogue like this. What a SET. The legacy Elton leaves us is immeasurable," gushed singer Beverley Knight.

As the BBC's Lyse Doucet added: "Emotional to watch his last concert in the UK... Thank you for the music. #EltonJohn."

"What an end to the weekend and what a way for Elton John to say goodbye. Unbelievable show to close out the greatest festival in the world! #Glastonbury #EltonJohn," typed a third.
