Elton John at Anfield: parking, road closures and getting to Anfield

The wait is almost over, tomorrow Elton John will bring his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour to Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool’s FC ground will host the huge concert, following The Rolling Stones last week. Elton John will bring his big summer stadium tour to the city, and fans can’t wait.

The singer is set to perform a variety of hits from over the decades including Crocodile Rock, Your Song and Tiny Dancer. The final gig at Anfield this summer will be The Eagles, who will be performing there on Monday June 20.

We’ve got all the details on road closures, parking and getting to Anfield to make your journey as smooth as possible. Here are all the details.

Road Closures

There will be a number of road closures for the concert tomorrow night. Both carriageways of Walton Breck Road will be closed from 12 noon, a temporary road closure will be put in place to help crowds enter and leave the stadium safely.

The road will remain closed until midnight or earlier if it’s deemed ‘safe.’ Pedestrian access will be maintained during this time, direction signage will be in place to direct pedestrians in the area.

Anfield Road will remain a no through road due to LFC’s Anfield Road Stadium expansion. Pedestrian access will be available via Dhalia walk.

Skerries Road will close to cars from 12 noon, but residents will be granted access. There will also be steel shield fencing installed around the food hub at the end of the road (located on club property) as part of the stadium access for concerts.

Travel

The below services will depart from alternative stops from 10pm whilst road closures are in operation after the event. The 19 bus stop will be on Walton Lane (at the bottom of Walton Breck Road).

For those on the number 17 bus service, it will leave from Utting Avenue to Queen Square Bus Station. The 68/168 services will leave from Priory Road, which operates between Bootle and Aigburth. The 14 bus will leave from Breck Rd, 10 minutes away.

Diversions

The 17 Service will be rerouted towards City Centre from Utting Avenue, left into Priory Road, right onto right onto Townsend Avenue, Breck Road, left onto Heyworth Street and then return to its normal route. Towards Kirkby from Everton Road, right into Breck Road, left into Priory Road, right onto Utting Avenue and normal route.

The 26 service will be as normal, to Hunter Street then rerouted via Islington, Brunswick Road, West Derby Road, left onto Boundary Lane, right onto Breck Road, right onto Belmont Road then return to its usual route.

Also running normally will be the 27 service to Belmont Road, it will go left onto Breck Road, right onto Heyworth Street, St Domingo Road, left onto Everton Valley then continue the normal route. The nearest stops for 26 and 27 service will be Breck Road/Belmont Road.

Those who want to take the 68/68A/68E services should be aware that buses from Aigburth to Bootle will run as the normal to Priory Road, then right onto Utting Avenue, left onto Queens Drive, right onto Rice Lane then as normal to Bootle.

Buses from Bootle to Aigburth will run as the normal route to Rice Lane, then left onto Queens Drive, right onto Utting Avenue, left onto Priory Road then as normal route to Aigburth.

Parking

There is no car parking available at the stadium for ticket holders, so be sure to use public transport to travel to Anfield. For fans who want to park on the day of the event, they will be advised to take city centre car parks and take the 917 bus service, or other local train and bus services to the station.

There is limited disabled car parking available on Stanley Car Park which must be pre-booked. There are disabled drop-off and pick-up areas on Arkles Lane and Gilman Street, which service both sides of the stadium.

Pick up and drop off areas for all other vehicles are on Priory Road, as well as coach parking. Fans are also advised to not park on residential streets, as any illegally parked cars could be fined.

The Football Match Parking Zone (FMPZ) also operates from 10pm – 12am from August 1 to 30 June. This time period will allow enforcement to take place to cover all potential match times, concerts, and major events.
