Elton John ambushed by Pep Guardiola and Manchester City stars as team celebrate FA Cup final win

Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City team serenaded Elton John while celebrating their FA Cup final win. Pep and his squad ambushed the mega-star after bumping into him at Manchester Airport last night - and belted out a version of Your Song for him.

After posing for selfies with the like of Kalvin Phillips and Phil Foden, to a round of applause Elton then urged the team to go on and complete an historic treble telling them: 'One more next week'.

The 76-year-old singer played his last ever concert in Manchester at the AO Arena on Saturday night as part of his farewell tour. Ilkay Gundogan struck in each half of City as they completed the domestic double having already wrapped up the Premier League title last month.

Pep Guardiola’s side now have eyes on the treble as they face Italian giants Inter in next week’s Champion's League final. City’s stars flew back to Manchester last night after the victory at Wembley over Manchester United.

Upon landing, they were greeted by football fan Elton, a former chairman and director of Watford and now honorary life president of the club. City shared footage of their players being greeted and congratulated by the singer, including Kevin de Bruyne, Manuel Akanji, Kyle Walker, Nathan Ake, Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden.

City’s players and staff were then videoed, in footage shared by City’s social media accounts, of them breaking into song with Elton. They were filmed singing his hit Your Song with spirits clearly extremely high.

John then gave the City players a motivating speech ahead of next week’s Champions League final against Inter in Istanbul. Guardiola’s side now stand on the verge of history as they are one game away not only from completing the treble, but of lifting Europe’s most coveted trophy for the first time in their history.

They are competing in just their second Champions League final, having lost the 2021 edition to Chelsea.
