Elsa Bloodstone joins Marvel Rivals as the next Duelist with an oddly familiar kit

As the mayhem caused by Deadpool slowly settles down, it’s time to return to the regularly scheduled Marvel Rivals programming, with Elsa Bloodstone joining the roster as the next hero in season 6.5.

On Feb. 10, NetEase Games revealed Elsa Bloodstone as the next Duelist coming to Marvel Rivals with season 6.5 on Feb. 13. Wielding two weapons and summoning monsters, Elsa is an expert hunter whose kit looks somewhat familiar to Ashe from Overwatch, but seemingly focused more on chaining abilities and going for close-range kills.

The gameplay trailer showed Elsa wielding a two-burst weapon as a primary with the ability to launch fire shrapnel using the alternate fire. Multiple abilities allow Elsa to dash and grant a short window to use the long-barrel shotgun for close-range kills. She can dash mid-air and even use her primary weapon to launch herself up. As the fight goes on, her hunting instinct sharpens, reducing ability cooldowns as she deals more damage. Instinct resets whenever Elsa gets KO’d, so staying alive is even more important than usual.

Another of her abilities is a trap containing the smoke monster Diablo, immobilizing enemies caught inside. Elsa has one more monster companion, and that’s Glartrox. When using her Ultimate, Elsa summons Glartrox, which charges and smashes through anything in its path, biting anyone standing in the way. Glartrox can seemingly come back to Elsa, bringing all the caught players for her to deal with.

The mid-season update shakes up the Team-Up abilities, with the biggest change being the removal of the Fantastic Four Team-Up. Invisible Woman now has a new Team-Up with Doctor Strange, replacing Strange’s Maelstrom of Madness with Psionic Vortex, which pulls enemies toward him and grants extra health to both Strange and nearby allies.

Elsa Bloodstone joins Deadpool and Jeff in the Mr Pool’s Interdimensional Toy Box Team-Up. It modifies Elsa’s shrapnel ability, which can now impair enemies’ vision and curse them with Deadpool’s chatter when hit by it. She can then recall the rounds, healing herself based on the damage dealt.

The Thing joins the Gamma Charge Team-Up, boosting the range and damage of both Stone Haymaker and Rocky Jab, also granting bonus health. While Mister Fantastic joins Star-Lord and Rocket, getting the Fantastic Amplifier, which allows him to accumulate more Elasticity and manually enter the Inflated state. Of all the Fantastic Four members, Human Torch is the only one without a new Team-Up, leaving him on his own.

Season 6.5 launches on Feb. 13, with new events like Gambit and Rogue’s wedding parade on Times Square taking place right in time for Valentine’s Day, as well as Lunar New Year festivities.
