NPR -- the publicly funded radio channel which relies on donations from generous listeners like you -- was labeled "state-affiliated media" on Twitter Tuesday, joining Russia's RT as a media organization with the ignominious title.
Twitter (TWTR) owner and CEO Elon Musk had a succinct response to a tweet pointing out the change.

NPR being "state-affiliated" might be news to NPR's 8.8 million followers. NPR was incorporated in 1970 and has been a staple of car rides with grandma ever since.
Users under Musk's tweet pointed out that the label seems a bit extreme.
Others pointed out that Twitter's definition of "state-affiliated" seems broad.
Musk fanboys celebrated the move, of course.
The move to label NPR somehow seems simultaneously capricious and targeted considering the the network's legacy and position on the left side of the culture war.
But even pre-Musk Twitter sometimes got it wrong with the media companies on the platform.
The social media platform famously censored an article from the New York Post about Hunter Biden's laptop after labeling it misinformation during the heat of the 2020 Presidential election.
And right wingers haven't shut up about that since.
But when the process targets a member of the political left, the political right celebrates.
NPR did not immediately return a request for comment.
