Tesla Inc CEO Elon Musk reacted to former President Donald Trump’s recent indictment in the Mar-A-Lago probe.

Musk took to Twitter to reply to a tweet from a user sharing Trump’s posts from Truth Social, where the former president announced that his legal team had been told he was indicted in the Mar-a-Lago documents probe and was summoned to appear in the Miami federal court on Tuesday.

The billionaire, questioning the DOJ’s indictment of the former president, said there seems to be a greater interest in investigating Trump than other politicians. “Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement, or they will lose public trust,” he added.

“There does seem to be far higher interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics, said Musk on Twitter. ”Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement, or they will lose public trust.”

Trump on Thursday became the first U.S. president to face federal charges for mishandling classified documents. The former president and his Republican colleagues have criticized DOJ for targeting the front-runner GOP candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

This is the second time that Trump has been indicted but on a state level from the Manhattan DA Alvin over the hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels.

The former president could potentially face a third indictment in Georgia by Fulton County DA Fani Willis in the 2020 Georgia election interference in a phone call with Georgia State Secretary Brad Raffensperger.

This isn’t the only case that special counsel Jack Smith is prosecuting Trump in an investigation. He is currently investigating Trump in the January 6 insurrection.

After Trump announced his indictment news, a slew of Republicans took to Twitter to dismiss the investigation and called it “an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial power.”

Trump’s announcement came a day after federal prosecutors informed his lawyers that the former U.S. leader is the target of the probe into his handling of classified documents.

Trump’s attorney Jim Trusty told CNN that the ex-president faces seven counts in the classified documents indictment, including a “break out from an Espionage Act charge” and “several obstruction-based-type charges and then false-statement charges.”

He is currently facing thirty-seven counts that includes obstructing justice, false statements, and violations of the Espionage Act, according to an unsealed document obtained by Politico.

Aileen Cannon, the Trump appointed judge to federal circuit in South Florida, will oversee the case as the former President is expected to appear in at the US district courtroom in Miami.

Special Counsel Jack Smith speaks to the press at the US Department of Justice in Washington, DC, on June 9, 2023, announcing the unsealing of the indictment against former US President Donald Trump. Trump was indicted Friday on 37 counts in the Mar-a-Lago documents case after he illegally kept top secret files on US nuclear and weapons programs and defense plans after leaving the White House. “The unauthorized disclosure of these classified documents could put at risk the national security of the United States,” the Justice Department said. Miami-Dade heavily favors Trumps as is more than possible his supporters will show up at the courthouse.

Like Musk, other Republican lawmakers that include House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Rep. Jim Jordan, Sen. Marco Rubio, and J.D. Vance slammed the investigation as very partisan.

Republican GOP candidate Chris Christie has stated that no one is above the law. Utah Sen. Mitt Romney slammed Trump on the charges.

“As I have said before, no one is above the law, no matter how much they wish they were,” said Christie about the Trump indictment. “We will have more to say when the facts are revealed.”

Trump slammed Smith on the indictment.

“This is the man who caused the Lois Lerner catastrophe with the IRS. He went after Evangelicals and Great Americans of Faith. The United States had to apologize, and pay major damages for what this deranged lunatic did. He had a unanimous loss in the Supreme Court,” said Trump on Truth Social going after the special counsel. “His wife is a Trump Hater, just as he is a Trump Hater—a deranged “psycho” that shouldn’t be involved in any case having to do with “Justice,” other than to look at Biden as a criminal, which he is!
