Recent FEC filings have revealed that Elon Musk, the wealthiest person in the world, has contributed an additional $43.6 million to America PAC in October. This brings his total contributions to the super PAC, which he helped form to support the reelection of former President Donald Trump, to a staggering $118.6 million.
America PAC disclosed that Musk made four separate donations during the first half of October, allowing the group to continue its significant spending on canvassing and field operations in crucial battleground states. This financial support has been instrumental in helping the Trump campaign stay competitive against Kamala Harris' well-funded campaign.
In addition to Musk's contributions, the DeVos family, including former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, also donated around $3 million to America PAC. The group reported a total of $46.6 million in receipts during the pre-general reporting period.
During the same period, America PAC spent approximately $47 million, with the majority of the funds directed towards independent expenditures supporting the Trump campaign. The group has spent a total of $118 million on independent expenditures since its formation in May.
It is worth noting that Elon Musk has significantly increased his political giving for the upcoming 2024 election. Apart from his contributions to America PAC, Musk also donated $10 million to a leading GOP super PAC focused on Senate races and $2.3 million to another GOP super PAC associated with the conservative Heritage Foundation.
