- The warnings follow growing industry concerns over existential AI threats, underscored by the resignation of Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon, who stated that many developers believe the technology could pose catastrophic risks by the end of the decade.
- Reflecting the increased focus on safety, Sam Altman separately confirmed that OpenAI will not go public in 2026, stating that an IPO would be ill-advised while the company prioritises AI safety and alignment alongside global regulations.
