Elon Musk almost got named after a French city, reveals book

Elon Musk was almost named after a beautiful French city and the reason was he was conceived there. 52-year-old, Elon Reeve Musk's connection to a French city has been revealed in the new book written by American author, Walter Isaacson.

Elon Musk was originally going to be named as Nice. "Walter Isaacson's biography said that the Tesla CEO had been due to be called Nice, which was a reference to the French city where the billionaire was conceived, the book said," Business Insider reported. Nice is a beautiful city in France and is the capital of French Riviera. The city is known for traces of ancient Greek civilization that still exists here.

The Tesla CEO's parents, Errol Musk and Maye Musk, later opted for Elon in the hopes of making his mother's side of the family happy, the report has quoted the book.

Walter Isaacson had recently shared a few pictures from the new book on X, formerly known as Twitter.

His first name, Elon, has been derived from his mom's grandfather and his middle name Reeve comes from his mom's maternal grandmother.

Citing the book, the media report said that Elon's father was fond of the name because of its biblical links. "It added that Errol Musk later said it was a prescient reference to a science-fiction book written by rocket scientist Wernher von Braun about colonizing Mars. Elon is the title given to elected leaders of Mars in the book," it adds.

Elon Musk is father to 11 children. He shares twins Strider and Azure with Shivon Zilis. X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus are the three kids he had with singer Grimes. He is dad to Griffin, Xavier and Nevada whom he shares with this first wife Justine Wilson. Kai, Saxon and Damian Musk are his triplets who were born in 2006.
