Elon Musk admitted there were “multiple internal and external issues” across Twitter after some users reported a message glich.
On Wednesday night, account holders were told that they had exceeded the “limit for sending tweets”, which stands at 2,400 per day. Other users said they had received the message without even tweeting while some said they were unable to access TweetDeck.
Mr Musk, who purchased Twitter for $44billion (£36billion) last year, said on Thursday: “Multiple internal & external issues simultaneously today. Should be fully back on track later tonight.”
The outage was first reported by Downdetector at 10pm with Twitter acknowledging it was working to fix the issue.
A statement from its support profile said: “Twitter may not be working as expected for some of you. Sorry for the trouble. We're aware and working to get this fixed.”

While it is unclear how many people were affected by the bug, Downdetector registered 3,224 reports of outages.
Although no official statement has been released, the bug seemed to be resolved as of Thursday morning.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Twitter CEO had lost £150billion since November 2021.
According to a Guinness World Records report, Mr Musk’s wealth dropped from a peak of $320billion (£263billion) in 2021 to $138billion (£113billion) last month largely due to the poor performance of Tesla’s stock.
