Elon Musk accepts offer from UFC legend to train him for Mark Zuckerberg cage fight

Elon Musk has taken UFC legend Georges St-Pierre up on his offer to coach him for a cage fight against Mark Zuckerberg.

Tesla boss Musk and Meta co-founder Zuckerberg agreed to an MMA fight last week and UFC boss Dana White has since offered his helping hand to host the fight. Several fighters have reached out to Musk and Zuckerberg about training them for the fight, one of which was former two-weight champion St-Pierre.

St-Pierre, who is widely considered as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, wrote to Musk on Twitter: "I'm a huge fan of yours and it would be an absolute honour to help you and be your training partner for the challenge against Zuckerberg." Musk was quick to reply to the Canadian and accepted his help, saying: "Ok, let's do it."

White plans to charge fans $100 for the pay-per-view if Musk and Zuckerberg do eventually meet in the cage. The fight has been backed to sell 25million pay-per-views buys, which is five times the number of the highest-selling event in combat sports history. Musk and Zuckerberg plan to donate all the money they earn from the cage fight to charity.

"I probably spent an hour and a half with them on the phone, both guys are absolutely dead serious about this,” White told TMZ Sports. “This would be the biggest fight ever in the history of the world. Bigger than anything that's ever been done, it would break all pay-per-view records, these guys would raise hundreds of millions of dollars for charity."

"You don't have to be a fight fan to be interested in this fight, everybody would want to see it. Listen, if these guys are serious, I make fights that people want to see, that's what I do for a living. If they really want to do it and they're serious and we can figure out a way to pull this off, I would absolutely, positively do this."

Zuckerberg is a huge fan of MMA and started training Brazilian-jiu jitsu because he wanted to be involved in a sport that required his full focus. The 39-year-old surprised fans by taking home gold and silver medals in his first jiu-jitsu competition last month. Musk is considerably taller and heavier than Zuckerberg, but doesn't have the same level of experience that his tech rival boasts in combat sports.
