Elodie Grace Orkin and Samuel Small have been announced as the lead actors in the upcoming short drama, 'Screening Room,' written and directed by Abdullah Khan. The film delves into the relationship between two movie enthusiasts and is set against the backdrop of a film festival in London.
In the narrative, Small portrays a young screenwriter who, in his quest for creative inspiration, encounters a mysterious woman played by Orkin. The duo forms a connection over their mutual passion for cinema. Joining them in the cast are Maria Almeida, Kika Green, Alan Emrys, and Ken Christiansen.
Khan shared that the primary aim of 'Screening Room' is to celebrate the communal experience of watching movies. He emphasized the significance of the interactions that occur between strangers in the shared space of a cinema, enhancing the overall impact of the viewing experience.
The short film was shot at the renowned Prince Charles Cinema in London and is slated to make its debut at a film festival later this year. Produced by Lucas A. Ferrara and Khan under the Rosebud Films production banner, 'Screening Room' follows their previous collaboration, 'Path to Ecstasy,' which features Michael Jibson and Louis Ashbourne-Serkis and is currently making waves on the festival circuit.
'Screening Room' marks Khan's third venture into the realm of short films, following the success of 'Path to Ecstasy' and 'Find the Light,' starring George MacKay. Rosebud Films is actively working on multiple feature film projects, including a psychological period piece centered on the occult and a historical biopic set in northern Pakistan.
