Ellie Simmonds has revealed that she has been reunited with her birth mother after being put up for adoption when she was just 10 days old. The Paralympian, who trained in Swansea, decided to search for her blood family after finding out about her adoption.
The 28-year-old, who has starred on Strictly Come Dancing, discovered her mum wished she had died at birth after medics told her Ellie would be ridiculed and seen as “evil” and “stupid”.
But it didn’t stop Ellie, who was born with achondroplasia, the most common form of dwarfism, from wanting to find her, the Mirror has reported.
