- Transport for London worker Jorge Ortega, 61, died from a severe brain injury after being punched by passenger Ayodele Jamgbadi at Ilford station in December 2024.
- Jamgbadi attacked Mr Ortega after missing a train and being approached by TfL staff who were attempting to calm him down.
- Deemed unfit to stand trial for murder due to severe mental health issues, a jury unanimously found at a trial of issue that Jamgbadi committed the act that led to Mr Ortega's death.
- Jamgbadi has now been detained in hospital indefinitely under a strict order, meaning he cannot be discharged or granted leave without approval from the Secretary of State for Justice or a Mental Health Tribunal.
- Following the finding, Mr Ortega's family paid tribute to him as a loving husband, father, and grandfather, while British Transport Police condemned the violence against a railway employee.
