Eleven U.S. House incumbents have lost primary elections so far this year — the second-highest since 2014

So far this year, 11 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have lost re-election in a primary. That’s the second-highest number of incumbents who have lost primary elections since 2014.

A contributing factor to the number of losses in 2022 was incumbents who ran against other incumbents due to redistricting. Looking at only incumbents who lost to non-incumbents from 2014 through 2026, this year ties with 2022 for the most losses since 2014.
