Wildlife officials have captured "Sidor Noke", an elephant who has been raiding farms in Krabin Buri district and killed one villager.

While on the run, the elephant was blamed for the death of a 73-year-old woman foraging in the forest.

About 150 forestry and wildlife rangers and volunteers set out to hunt down Sidor Noke.

On Monday morning, they received a report that Sidor Noke had been seen feeding in a forest, near where he killed the woman.

About 5pm, they fired five tranquillizer darts at him.

Sidor Noke fell asleep and was captured about 8pm.

It took the team more than three hours, using a backhoe, to load the elephant onto a truck.

The truck is taking the elephant home to Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary.
