Electrical storms hit south-east Queensland with BOM forecasting more severe weather today

Thousands of homes and businesses are without power across south-east Queensland after an overnight storm that brought more than 250,000 lightning strikes.

Energex's Danny Donald said more than 20,000 properties had been affected by power outages, with nearly 14,000 of those on the Sunshine Coast.
