Electric Love comes to Braehead this summer as artists announced for new music festival

A brand new music event is coming to Braehead this summer - giving over 16s the chance to enjoy their first proper festival.

Electric Love is set to bring artists including Joel Corry, John Newman, Shane Codd, Tom Zanetti, Carla Monroe and Regard to Scotland for a massive dance party on June 4.

Taking place at Braehead Arena and boardwalk, those aged between 16 and 18 will have to be accompanied by an adult.

The idea was to put on an event which older teenagers can be part of safely, and organisers are excited to announce it after working on it throughout our many lockdowns.

Julie McEwan, Event Director, said: “Electric Love Festival is a concept we began working on before covid so we’ve had plenty of time to plan it.

“We wanted to create an event which would allow older teens as well as over 18s to come along and see some of the biggest artists of the moment in a festival setting.

“We chose Braehead Arena and boardwalk as it has the perfect mix of indoor and outdoor space which we can utilise for entertainment and traders and those all-important selfie areas.

“We feel the city centre has so many events and offerings all the time, so we wanted to focus on out of town and Braehead is perfect for that – we have a long-standing relationship and a strong following in the area too.

“We love the venue and the team there and we’re confident catering to those older teens who so often miss out is something that’s not only wanted, but needed – these kids deserve the chance to get out and have fun in an environment with security, medical facilities and everything possible to keep them safe, and that is exactly what we will provide.

“The line-up is something we are very proud of – it genuinely has a lot of the biggest stars of the moment, so we’re excited to see what you all think.”

Meanwhile the artists announced for the festival are also buzzing to get to Braehead on June 4 – especially Shane Codd who is making his Glasgow debut.

Shane said: “Ah can’t wait for this! My first time playing in Glasgow, on a sick line-up and to 5,000 people. Come on”

Musician, rapper and reality star Tom Zanetti said: “I'm buzzing to head to Glasgow for this amazing new event, Electric Love”.

Regard – one of the hottest electronic acts right now – is excited for the summer event too.

Regard said: "Electric Love looks like the party of the year, in the ultimate party city, Glasgow.

"The fact it's open to over-16s is really cool, as younger music lovers often miss out on events of this scale.

"So bring it on - see you down the front people".

Joel Corry added: "I’ve always loved playing in Scotland over the years. The Scottish crowd is up there with the best in the world! So excited to be part of the first Electric Love. Bring on the madness!".

John Newman commented: "I always love the energy I get from the crowd and people of Glasgow and I can't wait to bring my new hybrid live DJ show to that environment at a new festival. New for '22 in all aspects! It's very exciting. Big love."

Electric Love is on Saturday June 4 at Braehead. Tickets are on sale April 8 from Skiddle priced £34.50 with early bird discount.
