Elderly woman, staying alone, found murdered

HYDERABAD: A 72-year-old woman, who was living alone, was found murdered at her residence at Sri Krishna Nagar in Petbasheerabad on Friday.

Petbasheerabad police said the victim, Sujatha, was found lying in a pool of blood on the floor at her rented accommodation. The body was in a decomposed condition. The victim had three daughters and a son, who stays in Malaysia. The three daughters reside in different areas in the city. On May 24, the victim last spoke to one of her daughters over the phone, police said.

Later, her phone was found switched off. Since she became incommunicado, her daughter sent a known person to visit the house and check on her. “The door was locked from outside and there was foul smell emitting from the house. They forcibly opened the door and found the body. “Since the body is in a decomposed state, we do not know whether there is any external injuries or not. We are waiting for the post-mortem report to ascertain how she was murdered,” Petbasheerabad inspector S Ramesh said.

A case was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
