An elderly man has been arrested in connection with a disturbing case of violence in Austin, Texas. The incident unfolded when police responded to a call about a deceased person at a residence on November 18. Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of 83-year-old Linda Mlsna and her dog inside the home.

Authorities noted signs of a struggle within the residence, leading them to classify the incident as a homicide. Further investigation revealed that Mlsna's roommate, 84-year-old Jack Moore, was missing from the scene. It was later discovered that Moore had used Mlsna's credit cards to make fraudulent purchases following her death.

During questioning, Moore confessed to the heinous crimes, admitting to killing Mlsna and her dog before attempting to flee the country. He claimed that he was motivated by a belief that Mlsna's family intended to move her to a nursing home due to her age, and he wanted her to remain in the home until her passing.

Moore believed Mlsna's family wanted to move her to a nursing home.

Evidence collected from the scene, including bloodstains and Mlsna's cell phone with alerts of suspicious transactions, corroborated Moore's involvement in the crimes. Surveillance footage from a store linked to the fraudulent purchases showed Moore buying numerous gift cards using Mlsna's credit cards, even after her death.

Moore, who has a history of criminal offenses, was apprehended on a parole violation for carjacking at a nearby apartment. A search of his residence yielded incriminating items, such as gift cards, credit cards issued to Mlsna, and women's jewelry.

Moore now faces charges of first-degree murder and parole violation, with a bond set at $1 million. The authorities are treating this case as Austin's 63rd homicide of 2024, highlighting the tragic nature of the events that unfolded in the quiet neighborhood.
