Elderly man, 82, loses 'independence' after 'prize possession' high-end bike stolen in break-in

An expensive high-end bike was stolen during a break-in at the home of an 82-year-old man. Police are appealing for information after the burglary at a house in Wigan, in which two bikes were taken including a Pinarello bicycle.

The bikes manufactured by the Italian company cost thousands of pounds. Thieves struck at a property on Poplar Street in Tyldesley last week.

"Officers are appealing for information in relation to a burglary that occurred at the home of an 82 yr old male on Poplar Street on the night of 10 - 11/04/22," a post on the GMP Leigh, Atherton and Hindley Facebook page read.

"Two Bicycles were stolen from the address. One, a pinarello looks similar to the below image but has solid spoke wheels.

"Any info contact GMP or crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting CRI/06LL/0010658/22. Thank you for your help as we try to reunite this victim of crime with his prize possessions and bring those responsible for the removal of his independence to justice."
