An elderly Leeds mum was forced to celebrate her 92nd birthday alone after a Covid outbreak in her care home.

This spurred Kathy Campbell, her daughter, to find out about the role of essential caregiver by searching through government guidelines to try to find a way to visit her mother during the month-long care home quarantine.

And she discovered that as an "essential caregiver" she would be able to visit her mum every day - even if a Covid outbreak meant the care home had to go into quarantine.
