An Edinburgh resident on their morning commute has hailed an elderly gentleman who appears to have taken it upon himself to care for a set of public plants in Tollcross.
Julie, from Morningside, captured the footage whilst travelling on a Lothian Bus at around 08:30am at the Tollcross Junction.
She noticed that an elderly man had taken the time to care and trim the plants on the island whilst making her way to Edinburgh University library.
Julie added that it was a “nice bit of kindness in the midst of a political crisis in the world”.
It is not known who the man is, whether he is a local resident, business owner or worker, but it was felt that he went above and beyond the call of duty by caring for the plants.
She said: “I captured a heartwarming video taken at 08.30am Tollcross junction whilst on the bus to Edinburgh University Library.
“I was surprised to see this helpful man taking responsibility for plants when he didn't have to. The world is quite a dark place politically and to see a ray of light in human kindness created a precious moment in time.
“Some people say they are an island and don't need to help in life but this man was literally on an island in the road making a difference!.”
Julie added that she will be keeping an eye out for the man in future to thank him for bringing joy to her morning commute.
In the video, the elderly man with an exceptional beard can be seen with some gardening equipment as he tends to the various plants as traffic passes him by.
