FromSoftware revealed that there is a network test for Elden Ring Nightreign that is scheduled for February 2025 to let players try out the co-op spin-off early.

The upcoming game was revealed with a surprise entry during The Game Awards 2024 that showcased some in-game footage. The trailer highlighted Elden Ring Nightreign's three-player co-op system to let players band together to defeat challenging foes.

Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are giving eager fans a chance to try the game out earlier than its official launch with a network test. The exact dates and times for it have not yet been revealed.

However, interested players can already sign up for the Elden Ring Nightreign network test on the platform of their choice. The game will be available for registration on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S starting on Jan. 10, 2024.

This network test is described as a "preliminary verification test" where you can experience a potion of Elden Ring Nightreign. The studios have not yet disclosed the exact number of players who will be chosen for the network test, according to Game Spot.

However, the website for the upcoming Elden Ring spin-off did mention that they were designed to be "large-scale network load tests." Elden Ring Nightreign is a major departure from FromSoftware's original soulslike system.

The game mainly focuses on co-op and fast gameplay instead of giving the community a stunning single-player experience.

You will slowly level up your character by defeating enemies and looting new gear. Teams will be able to progress and take on a major foe at the end of each challenge.

An Early Network Test

There was also a preview for the upcoming game last week where some players were able to get a hands-on experience of Elden Ring Nightreign. This build is believed to be very similar to the official beta of the game, PCGamer said.

The network test would most likely allow Bandai Namco and FromSoftware to see how the servers hold up thousands of players diving into the game simultaneously. It also allows the studios to gather player data and feedback to see what needs to be changed.

The people who played the hands-on early build of Elden Ring Nightreign went away feeling satisfied. The game apparently takes the cautious dungeon crawls of the franchise and builds upon them to make them "propulsive, slash 'n' dash speedruns."

Game director Junya Ishizaki also talked about the upcoming Elden Ring spin-off during a recent interview, according to IGN.
