Reviews for Elden Ring began dropping Wednesday morning, and word on the street is that it’s pretty good — or an all-time great, depending on who you ask.
Over on reviews aggregate Metacritic’s highest-rated video games of all time list, Elden Ring is currently ranked 15, sitting comfortably between legendary titles like Breath of the Wild and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3. That’s after accumulating around 45 critical scores on the PS5 version too!
It’ll likely shift around some as more reviews come in, but still, getting a 97 on Metacritic is exceedingly rare. Some other games with the same Metascore include Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto 5, Super Mario Galaxy, Perfect Dark, and Metroid Prime.

GLHF’s own Kirk McKeand review of Elden Ring was similarly glowing.
“Elden Ring’s world is intimidatingly vast,” McKeand said. “But despite spending all this time crunching through it for review, I can’t wait to go back and see more of it unfurl.”
On OpenCritic, another review aggregate, Elden Ring is in the website’s 100th percentile — overtaking the likes of God of War and Hades.

Again, keep in mind that Elden Ring will likely shift about these lists as more reviews come in overtime, but for now, it seems like we may have a modern-day classic on our hands.
