The Virgin Media presenter revealed how she was scared while talking about her mental health struggles for the first time on television when she appeared on the RTE show years ago. Elaine spoke of how Ryan completely put her at ease thanks to his compassionate personality.

She said on Instagram: "Thanks @instatubridy for being so kind to me when I appeared on @latelaterte many years ago. It was the first time I talked about depression on tv and I was very scared and nervous, but like the pro you are you put me completely at ease.

"I know whatever you do next, you’ll knock it out of the park! The show won’t be the same without you."

Ryan is set to host his final Late Late Show tonight after being at the helm of the popular chat show for 14 years. The Dubliner said he will be dedicating his final episode to his family.

Speaking about tonight's episode, Ryan said: "I also want to say thank you to the viewers who stuck with me, with us and with the show for the past 14 years. The viewers’ loyalty, decency, kindness and generosity has taken my breath away on a weekly basis.

"I sit looking at my desk this morning at about 300 or 400 cards and letters from people I don't even know, that have come from all around Ireland and in some cases all around the world. I am humbled, I am grateful, and I am excited because this is the end of one phase of this extraordinarily exciting life I have had so far.

"I will be turning the big 5-0 on Sunday so, it’s the perfect time to look ahead and welcome a new chapter."
