Ekin-Su and Davide win Love Island as final positions cause a stir

After viewers have been hooked on the show for two months, Love Island crowned its latest winners on Monday night, when Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu lived up to their billing as red hot favourites by triumphing in the villa.

The wo wee called as 2022 champions by Laura Whitmore, with Gemma and Luca in second, Dami and Indiyah in third and Tasha and Andrew the big upset of the night as the second favourites to win only finished fourth.

After Paige and Adam were sent packing right before the final, just four couples were left in the running for Love Island victory, as bookies declared the result was a 'foregone conclusion' after Davide and Ekin-Su strengthened their position as front-runners.

There was some bombshell news right at the start of the Love Island final, when host Laura confirmed the love or money twist had been axed. The choice put to couples right before credits roll has become one of the most anticipated moments of any Love Island finale so there was outcry on Twitter within seconds of Laura making the statement within seconds of the show starting.

After viewers saw the Islanders have dance lessons and make romantic declarations to each other during the summer ball, Laura announced that the vote had closed, before calling Tasha and Andrew in fourth place, in an outcome that caused quite a stir online.

Laura chatted to the second favourites to win and then confirmed that Indiyah and Dami had come third. Gemma and Luca majorly upset the bookies odds for the final by finishing second but bookies got it spot on with their winning prediction.

As fans were still reeling about Gemma and Luca being top two, there was no 'love or money' decision for Davide and Ekin-Su to face, with them each taking home £25,000 as Ekin-Su was left in tears.
