If they haven’t already, the Los Angeles Rams can cross Ejiro Evero off their list of defensive coordinator candidates this year. Evero is currently under contract with the Panthers as their defensive coordinator and despite changing head coaches, Carolina is expected to retain Evero.
Coach Dave Canales told reporters Thursday that he wants to keep Evero as his defensive coordinator, calling him a “huge piece” of what Carolina is building.
The Panthers have blocked Evero from interviewing for defensive coordinator positions with multiple other teams, and though the Rams never put in a request to meet with him, it was reported that he’d have been one of their top candidates if available.
Dave Canales said he expects Ejiro Evero to be back as defensive coordinator, calling that a "huge piece" for the Panthers.

Evero coached the Rams’ safeties from 2017-2020 and became their secondary coach/passing game coordinator in 2021. He left Los Angeles to become the Broncos’ defensive coordinator in 2022 and then joined the Panthers last year.
