Eight-storey student flats with shops and commercial space in Beeston gets green light following appeal

Cassidy Group has won a planning appeal for a mixed-use scheme in Beeston town centre. The property developer has been told it can go ahead with the plans for the eight-storey building on a derelict site in Station Road, which will include shops and commercial units alongside student accommodation.

An initial planning application was turned down by Broxtowe Borough Council last July because councillors had concerns around parking, the scale of the building, and its sustainability. The decision has now been overturned on appeal.

Liam Brennan, development manager at Cassidy Group, said: “We want to reassure the Beeston community that we are committed to creating a building which will benefit the local area a great deal – using sustainable materials and being sensitive to the town centre in terms of what is already there.
