Hina Khan is all set to celebrate the festival of Eid-ul-Adha with her family today. The actress, who hails from Kashmir, says, “When I was a child, we used to celebrate the festival at our home in Kashmir with the entire family. My mother would cook a delicious feast and all my cousins and elders would come home. The best part of it was the entire family getting together. I would eagerly look forward to it and also the Eidi that I received from my elders. As kids, it was a joyous occasion to receive Eidi.”
Hina has been part of many TV shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlataa Hai, Kasauti Zindagii Kay 2, Naagin 5, as well as reality shows Bigg Boss 11 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 8 and films including Hacked. Talking about Eid celebrations at her home, she says that they have a feast at home even now. She shares, “From sevaiyaan to different types of dry fruits, mutton dishes and even delicacies from Kashmiri cuisine are cooked at home. For me, the whole process of cooking these dishes is very enjoyable, and while mom cooks all the dishes, we help her prepare everything. She ensures that the entire family is together on this day.”
The actress, unfortunately, lost her father in April 2021, and she says celebrating the festival is no longer the same. “Eid will never be the same for us, but we will try and celebrate and keep it simple. A festival is a great time to enjoy good food prepared at home and spend quality time with your family,” she signs off.
