Eid al-Fitr in Glasgow announced as Muslims celebrate end of Ramadan

The date Eid al-Fitr will take place in Glasgow has been announced this evening as Glaswegians prepare to mark the end of Ramadan.

Also known as Eid ul-Fitr, the occasion is the first of the two main festivities in the Muslim calendar and it comes after the end of Ramadan, a month which sees Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

Today (April 20) was the 29th day of fasting where officials and members of the public search for the sighting of the moon to determine when Eid will be.
