EICMA’s Stellar Attendance Is Proof That The Moto Industry Is Alive And Well

If you’ve been keeping abreast with the motorcycle industry recently, you’d notice that there have been quite a few motorcycle manufacturers that have been struggling to stay afloat. Pair that with the number of EV motorcycle startups that have gone under, and it can be easy to be misled into thinking that our beloved motorcycle industry is in some serious trouble.

I’m sure you’ve read all about how Harley-Davidson’s sales aren’t exactly as great as they used to be. As well as how KTM seems to be on the verge of being sold off. And while these are indeed big stories—and ones to keep an eye on—they don’t exactly reflect the general direction of the entire industry.

We recently reported on how Honda’s sales have been so good that it actually adjusted its projections upward, certainly leaving other manufacturers green with envy. Indian motorcycle manufacturer Bajaj posted similarly impressive growth, with a 26-percent spike in the first half of 2024.

And then, of course, there’s EICMA. The recently concluded motorcycle expo just set a new attendance record in its 81st edition, some 110 years since it first opened its doors. More than 600,000 people from all over the world flocked to Milan, Italy, to see the latest and greatest innovations motorcycle manufacturers had in store for the global market. This is an impressive 40,000 visitors more than last year’s EICMA.

To make things even better, EICMA 2024 was home to a record-breaking number of exhibitors, as well. EICMA reports that there were more than 770 exhibitors present at the event, representing 45 countries and a whopping 2,163 brands. So yeah, the motorcycle industry is definitely alive and kicking, and seems poised to take on the global stage more than ever before.

And in case you missed all our coverage from this year’s EICMA, well, suffice it to say you’ve got some serious reading to do, because this year’s expo was nothing short of amazing. Once you’ve browsed through all our EICMA 2024 stories, why not let us know what your favorite new bike from EICMA is? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
