EgyptAir crash which killed British man and 64 others caused by fire not ‘explosion’, coroner rules

EgyptAir flight MS804 crashed into the sea after disappearing from radar - (Mehmet Mustafa Celik)

A coroner has ruled that a British man died after his plane crashed due to a fire on board, dismissing an Egyptian report saying there had been an explosion.

Richard Osman, who grew up in Carmarthen, Wales, died alongside 65 others nearly a decade ago, when EgyptAir flight MS804 vanished over the Mediterranean in May 2016.
