Ahmed Elgendy made history on Saturday by securing Egypt’s first gold medal of the Paris Games in the modern pentathlon event. The 24-year-old athlete achieved this remarkable feat by setting a new world record points total of 1555, showcasing his exceptional skills and determination.
Elgendy’s outstanding performance in the various disciplines of the modern pentathlon contributed to his victory. He earned 300 points in the riding segment, displayed his fencing prowess with 245 points, showcased his swimming abilities with 312 points, and excelled in the laser run, accumulating an impressive 698 points.
Following closely behind Elgendy was Japan’s Taishu Sato, who clinched the silver medal with a total of 1542 points. Sato’s strong performance throughout the competition earned him a well-deserved spot on the podium. Italy’s Giorgio Malan also delivered a commendable performance, securing the bronze medal in the event.
