Liverpool star Mohamed Salah will miss Thursday's Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ethiopia, the Egyptian FA have confirmed.
In a statement released on Monday, it was confirmed the winger will be rested this week having undergone a scan on a minor muscle strain. Salah played in the 1-0 win over Guinea on Sunday night and captained the side as they got their qualifying campaign underway.
Egypt boss Ehab Galal revealed after the game that the 29-year-old played through injury and he was set to undergo scans.

“Salah was suffering from an injury and played through it,” the Egypt manager told reporters, via KingFut. “He rejected Liverpool’s request for an X-ray before the game and will now undergo it.”
Following Thursday's clash with Ethiopia, Galal's side will then start preparing for a friendly against South Korea next week.
Elsewhere, it's set to become a big summer for Salah as his future remains uncertain. He's about to enter the final year of his contract at Anfield and is yet to find a resolution with the club.
As it stands, the player has confirmed he will stay at Liverpool next season. However, if a contract extension isn't agreed, he will be free to leave next summer for nothing.
