Mohamed Salah has been sent home early from Egypt duty after boss Rui Vitoria decided to rest the Liverpool winger.
The Pharoahs face Liberia in a friendly on Tuesday after downing Niger 3-0 last week, a game which saw the 30-year-old score twice.
On Sunday, Vitoria confirmed plans to leave out Salah along with striker Mostafa Mohamed and injured defender Ahmed Fatouh.
The decision will come as music to the ears of Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton on Saturday.
The Reds are about to embark on a hectic fixture schedule in the lead-up to the World Cup, including games against Arsenal and Manchester City in amongst a Champions League double-header with Rangers.
An Egypt statement confirmed: “The technical staff of the Egyptian national team preferred to rest Mohamed Salah and Mostafa Mohamed for the Liberia friendly after both took part in the previous match against Niger.”
