Edwin van der Saar has sent a pointed message to Donny van der Beek after he completed his move to Everton on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder was confirmed as the Blues' fourth signing of the window when he put pen-to-paper on a loan deal to bring him to Goodison Park from Manchester United.
Having joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2020, the 24-year-old has struggled to hit the heights that he reached during a fantastic period with Ajax in previous seasons.

And that is something Van der Saar seems to have referenced in a recent comment to the player.
The former United goalkeeper played a role in the midfielder's move to Old Trafford in his role as CEO at Ajax, and no doubt has kept a close eye on the midfielder as he's had to settle for a place on the bench more often than not.
When Van de Beek shared news of his loan to Everton on Instagram, his fellow countryman had an interesting message to send.
He replied: "Better luck with this club in the North West of England Donny!"
The midfielder was the first of two Everton signings made on deadline day after the arrival of new manager Frank Lampard at Finch Farm, with Dele Alli's permanent transfer being confirmed shortly after midnight.
Van de Beek is cup tied for his side's next match against Brentford in the FA Cup on Saturday, but will be eligible when the Blues travel for a crucial match against Newcastle the following Tuesday.
