Just over four years ago, Arsenal found themselves in a very familiar position.
Alexis Sanchez had just departed to join Manchester United, and although Henrikh Mkhitaryan had come the other way, there was still a sense that the Chilean's goals needed to replaced.
It appeared that by spending around £60 million to bring in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang they had done exactly that. But with one solution came another problem as, having just spent £50 million to sign Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon the transfer window prior, the Gunners were left with two expensive strikers on their books without an obvious plan of how to fit them both in the same team.
