Edu can repeat Arsenal transfer trick to hijack Man Utd deal for Thierry Henry favourite

Arsenal need to add to the midfield department in the January transfer window. Despite a strong starting pivot in the middle of the park, there is a lack of quality in depth to boost Mikel Arteta’s options.

The Gunners are currently on a title charge as they lead Manchester City by four points in the Premier League, but the main concern for Arsenal’s chances to lift the trophy come May is the depth behind Arteta’s starting XI.

If Edu wants to continue Arsenal’s title push then it is crucial that a midfielder is signed. A potential option for the Gunners is to hijack Manchester United’s potential deal for Mohammed Kudus from Ajax, a move that Thierry Henry has already endorsed.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Manchester United will consider a move for Kudus in January. The Ghanaian had a strong World Cup for Black Stars, in which he almost led his nation to the knockout stages.

This comes after Arsenal legend Thierry Henry praised Kudus after his Champions League performance against Liverpool earlier in the season. "He [Mohammed Kudus] came from the Academy Right to Dream from Ghana and he is living his dream," Henry said on CBS Sports.

Albert Sambi Lokonga, Mohamed Elneny, and Fabio Vieira are the three rotational options for Arsenal in the midfield. but their quality do not compare with the current starters under Arteta.

Edu could even use Partey as a key transfer agent in a potential deal, seeing as though the Arsenal midfielder is a heavily influential midfielder amongst the Ghana team. It is also a tactic that Edu has used to before to sign a transfer target.

Edu has been successful in using this tactic before, which was highlighted when Arsenal signed Aaron Ramsdale ahead of the 2021/2022 season. And the supporters have Bukayo Saka to thank for this transfer as Ramsdale had labelled the youngster 'Agent Saka'.

When speaking about how Saka helped with his move to the Gunners on the FA YouTube channel, Ramsdale said: "Agent Saka, that’s what he says. He also said the manager [Mikel Arteta] spoke to him a couple of times about me and thankfully he gave a good review."

Saka and Ramsdale were teammates before meeting at club level as they were both called for England in the summer ahead of the 2020 European Championships. Arsenal could follow a similar pattern with Partey, in order to help the Gunners hijack Manchester United's ideal January transfer.
