Arsenal have completed the signing of Jorginho from Chelsea to become the Gunners' third signing of the January transfer window.
Mikel Arteta's men had previously added Leandro Trossard from Brighton and defender Jakub Kiwior but a new midfielder had been made the priority following injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny. Brighton's Moises Caicedo had been identified as the north Londoners' number one target but Brighton's reluctance to budge meant Jorginho was acquired.
football.london understands that the Italian has made the switch across London for a deal worth £10million in guaranteed fees with an additional £2million in add-ons. He has signed an initial 18-month contract at the Emirates Stadium, with an option for an extra year.

The deal was announced with three hours to spare, and the Gunners' winter transfer incomings are now likely to be over. Technical director Edu Gasper has heaped praise on to the new Arsenal midfielder, acknowledging his experience. Speaking on the club's official website, he said: "Jorginho is an established professional with a strong mentality who brings quality and experience into our squad.
"He is a player who fits our style of play, and he joins us at a very good moment where he can contribute in a key position to help maintain our momentum. We welcome Jorginho to Arsenal."
Arsenal boss Arteta has seconded Edu's words of praise for Jorginho, highlighting the importance of the Italian's leadership in football. "Jorginho is a midfield player with intelligence, deep leadership skills and a huge amount of Premier League and international experience.
"Jorginho has won in his career, but he still has the hunger and huge willingness to contribute here. We are so pleased to sign Jorginho and welcome him and his family to the club."
