Edouard Mendy has warned Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool could rue the decision to sell Sadio Mane following the 30-year-old's move to Bayern Munich. The Chelsea goalkeeper plays alongside the German giants' marquee signing at international level, with the pair steering Senegal to Africa Cup of Nations glory in February.
And, while Mendy and Mane have enjoyed great success together for their country, it has always been quite the spectacle when they lock horns on the domestic stage. In each of the five times they have clashed, only the Blues shot-stopper has walked away victorious inside 90 minutes, with one win, two draws and two losses via penalty shootouts.
So, Mendy is certainly aware of the threat that Mane poses. Speaking to the Evening Standard amid Chelsea's tour of the United States, the 30-year-old spoke on the former Liverpool forward's exit from Anfield, wishing him all the best.

"I think it is a big loss for the Premier League in terms of quality and in terms of the person," Mendy said. "We’ve lost someone great and I hope for him he will enjoy the Bundesliga. He’s also a big loss [to Liverpool] because of his quality, the impact he makes and also because, for the young players, he’s an example. When you lose someone like this it can have a huge impact."
However, while Mane may have left, Mendy won't be the only a-list Senegalese star in the Premier League this season. Chelsea have welcomed the signing of their goalkeeper's fellow countryman Kalidou Koulibaly.
Speaking to the Chelsea website, Mendy detailed what the defender is like as a person and how he will fit right in at Stamford Bridge. He said: "He is a guy who likes the responsibility, but also he can joke with everyone, so we need this kind of person.
"I think everybody's going to be happy with him and what they see. Every year we had this - the link with Chelsea and Kalidou in the media - and this year it happens so I am happy."
