Edmonton: Man rescued by firefighters from blaze dies in hospital

A man has died in hospital after being rescued by firefighters from a burning home in north-east London last week.

The second floor of a terraced house on Hennessy Road in Edmonton was destroyed by the blaze on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 11.

The victim, 42, was rescued by firefighters from the building before being taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

He later died at hospital, the London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed on Monday.

The fire was reported to the brigade at 4.10pm, and the incident was under control an hour later. Crews from Holloway and Enfield fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by LFB and the Metropolitan Police.

Metropolitan Police told the Standard: “A man, aged 42, was recovered from the building and taken to hospital where he sadly died.

“His family have been informed. An investigation was carried out into the cause of the fire and it is not being treated as suspicious.”
