Ayrshire-headquartered construction, property and investment business Edison Group has acquired Crown Architectural Systems, a north east of England-based construction company.
It operates from a 6500 sq. ft facility in Washington, Sunderland, employing 29 staff.
The company, which was formed originally in 2007 as Crown Doors and Shutters, counts Audi, Greggs and the University of Northumbria as customers.
Edison chief executive Calum Melville said: “Crown Architectural Systems represents a highly-complementary addition to our existing portfolio of expert specialist supplier businesses.
“It has contracted revenue for 2023 of £6m and it is our aim to have this increase to £10m in the year to December 2024.
“There are currently 29 employees in the business and we anticipate that we will create 14 new jobs this year.
“This acquisition represents our most important move to date into the construction industry market in the north of England and we plan to develop Crown as a UK-wide operator as we win yet more business in the wider UK construction sector.“
Melville continued that the group in currently in legal stages with two further acquisitions which he anticipates will complete in April and May.
“These will bring bringing consolidated sales on a rolling 12-months to £26m.”
Edison, which recently opened its new offices in Irvine, has been highly acquisitive of late, buying complementary businesses in the construction and property sectors.
“Our consistently expanding offering includes construction, project management, architectural services, bespoke joinery, furniture manufacture, interior design, interior fit out, all trades, driveways, landscaping, property maintenance and refurbishment”, added Melville.
The group's residential, commercial, hotel and serviced accommodation divisions made solid progress in 2022, adding £2.7m of properties to the portfolio, which is projected to grow to 90 properties by the end of 2023.
Earlier this year, it invested six figures to take a 81% controlling interest in The Property Solutions Company, before acquiring The Edinburgh Driveway Company.
