This week, the council granted permission for the new enclosure, with work set to begin soon.
The zoo has three years in total to begin the work, with the surrounding trees next to the building site to be protected under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997.
The enclosure will be placed next to the giraffes within the zoo, to the north west area of the park.

The zebras will live next to the giraffes, baboon's vultures and pig enclosures, as they were originally placed next to the giant pandas within the zoo.
It is unknown when the works will begin or finish, but you can follow the Edinburgh Zoo on Twitter here for further updates.
