Edinburgh woman rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after hit and run

A 39-year-old woman has been rushed to hospital after being caught up in a hit-and-run smash in Edinburgh on Saturday morning.

The crash between the cyclist and a van left the woman with serious injuries and police are now trying to trace the driver.

Police in Edinburgh are appealing to the public for information following the hit-and-run on Old Dalkeith Road yesterday morning.

The incident took place on Saturday (May 28) at around 11:35am at the junction with Walter Scott Road. The crash involved a cyclist and a van which sped away from the scene following the smash.

The cyclist is a 39-year-old woman who has been taken to the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh for treatment for serious injuries.

Cops are now appealing to the public for any information to try and trace the driver. The vehicle is believed to be a small white van or something similar. Cops are urging anyone who may have witnessed the event or anyone with information that could be useful to come forward.

Constable Gary Barkham, from Edinburgh Road Policing, said: “We are asking for anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash, or anyone with information on the vehicle involved, to please get in touch. Any information could prove useful to our investigation.”
